Allo Allo

Allo Allo

We are pleased to announce that our next production will be "Allo Allo!" by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, written specially for the stage and of course based on the immensely popular TV series which ran for ten years and nine seasons from 1982 to 1992.

The cast is very large, as was the case when we presented "Dad's Army" last year, and again this production is directed by Graham Johnson and Trevor Talbot, who will also be playing Captain Alberto Bertorelli and Rene Artois respectively. They will be assisted by the directorial skills of Andrea Gambell, who is newly associated with us. The rest of the cast consists of regulars such as Richard Rickson, Glynis Watson, Rob Pearson, Rebecca Bright, Claire Talbot, Vince Bennett, Stuart Mitchell-Smith and Leonard Quaife, and we are delighted to be introducing some new members in this production, who have come to us via this website. There are also several "extras" involved in the production, including a peasant woman played by one of our longest standing members, Joan Stanbridge. Our Musical Director (and piano player) is David Horsburgh - there are two production numbers, sung beautifully off-key by Glynis Watson as Edith, assisted by the two serving girls, Yvette and Mimi. As always our lighting engineer is Rod Stanbridge, the many props involved are once again managed by Barbara Roe, and our Production Manager is Don Boon. We are pleased to say that the intricate set will be designed by our very artistic and talented set designer, David Townsend, who has produced some fabulous sets for us over the past few years.

Business at the Box Office is expected to be brisk for this production, so tickets should be booked early to avoid disappointment - "Dad's Army" brought us record audience numbers and we are predicting a similar response to "Allo Allo!"

Performance dates are Wednesday 3rd to Saturday 6th December. Doors open at 7.15pm, curtain up at 7.45pm. There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday 6th December at 2.30pm. Doors open at 2pm.

Tickets are £8 (£7 concessions, under 18 and over 65) which includes an interval drink.

The story so far is……

Hapless café owner, Rene, and his wife, Edith, struggle in war-torn occupied France to keep for themselves a priceless portrait stolen from the Nazis and kept in a sausage in their cellar. Rene is hiding two British airmen and is endeavouring, with the help of the Resistance, to repatriate them. However communications with London through a wireless disguised as a cockatoo add to the many embarrassments he endures in the company of his patrons. Matters come to a head with the news that the Fuhrer is to visit the town and the café becomes filled with tricksters intending to impersonate Hitler before the event. Rene will need all the wit he can muster to save his café and his life…!
